'Roos Earn Dramatic Double OT Win Over Schreiner

SHERMAN, Texas – Phillip Le scored with only a minute remaining in the second overtime to lift Austin College to a 3-2, come-from-behind victory over visiting Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos scored three straight to end the game and improve to 5-4-1 overall and 2-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Schreiner tallied twice in the first five minutes after the break to grab a 2-0 lead. Robert Hensley scored in the 47th minute, and Alan Aviles added a goal three minutes later for the Mountaineers. The game was delayed for close to an hour due to lightning, but when the 'Roos returned to the field the quickly cut the margin in half on a penalty kick from Chris Abad-Jacobi in the 60th minute.

The score remained 2-1 until the 86th minute of action, when Le would square things up and force overtime with his first goal of the match. After a scoreless first overtime period, the game looked headed to a draw, when Jack Wheaton found Le for the last minute goal, Le's SCAC-leading ninth of the season.

Joseph Khalaf made six saves in goal for Austin College, as the 'Roos held a 27-13 advantage in shots during the course of the match.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
