'Roo Men Blanked in 8-0 Loss to No. 8 Trinity

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College men's soccer team fell in a 5-0 halftime hole after Trinity broke things open by scoring three times in under three minutes, and the 'Roos were never able to recover in an 8-0 loss on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos fall to 4-12-1 overall and 2-9 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Trinity's Chris Madden got the Tigers on the board in the 7th minute of action, and the score remained 1-0 until the 29:16 mark, when Daniel Ruano scored on a free kick. The Tigers would tally again just under two minutes later, and Ruano found the net for a second time just 41 seconds after that to make it a 4-0 game. Trinity would tack on one more goal in the 43rd minute to take a five goal lead into the break.

Trinity added to the margin in the 63rd minute, and scored again in the 74th minute of action to make it 7-0. The Tigers, who entered the game ranked No. 8 in the nation by D3Soccer.com, tallied one more time in the 82nd minute of action to make it an 8-0 final.

The Tigers held a 25-4 edge in shots in the game, with Austin College's best opportunity sailing just wide on a shot from Manuel Hayashi late in the match. Joseph Khalaf made three saves for Austin College.
