Abad-Jacobi's Two Second Half Goals Lift 'Roo Men to 3-2 Victory

Chris Abad-Jacobi tallied twice in just over a minute midway through the second half as the Austin College men's soccer team came from two goals down to earn a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 1-10-4 overall and 1-7-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Centenary was able to get on the board first when Jeremy Klepsis collected a loose ball in front of the goal and fired a shot into the lower right corner in the 18th minute, and Klepsis scored again just over 10 minutes later on an assist from Jason Aiken to make it a 2-0 game. Austin College would cut the margin in half just before the break, with Roberto Varela taking a pass from Roberto Gutierrez and punching it in with 28 seconds on the clock.

The score remained 2-1 through the first 17 minutes of the second half, but Abad-Jacobi squared things up when a rebound off of a shot by Sebastian Iribarren fell to him and he was able to find the back of the net at the 62:33 mark, and just 1:07 later Abad-Jacobi again found himself in front of the goal and put the eventual game-winner in on an assist from Garrett Matacale.

Austin College held a 19-12 shot advantage in the game, including a 10-5 margin in the second half. Andrew Celio made four saves for Austin College and Rylan Whan made three for the Gents.

Austin College will be looking to make it two in a row when they host the University of Dallas on Tuesday afternoon.
