'Roo Men's Soccer Falls to Centenary

The Austin College men's soccer team fell 3-1 to visiting Centenary College in the final regular season Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game for both teams on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 4-11-3 overall and 4-8-2 in conference play after the loss.

Austin College jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute of action when Caleb Walters took a cross from Harroon Ismail and centered it to Matt Rowlands, who blasted it into the back of the net to put the 'Roos on top 1-0. The lead was short lived however as Centenary tallied less than 10 minutes later to square things up, and the Gents took the lead with just 19 seconds left before halftime when Gabriel Zahm scored off of a corner kick to make it 2-1 at the break.

That remained the score despite Austin College getting several strong chances early in the second half, until Centenary added to its lead in the 67th minute on a goal from Cole Davidson to make it a 3-1 game. Austin College would out-shoot the Gents 9-3 in the second half but were unable to counter.

Andrew Celio made two saves for Austin College while Rylan Wahn had four and Austin Andrews made three for Centenary. The 'Roos, who held a 19-10 shot advantage in the game, will be looking to end the regular season with a win when they host UC-Santa Cruz at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday as they celebrate Senior Day.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
