Men's Soccer Wins Overtime Thriller Against TLU

The Austin College men's soccer team tallied with just over two minutes remaining in the first overtime to break a scoreless draw and give the 'Roos a 1-0 victory over visiting Texas Lutheran on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 3-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the win.

Texas Lutheran came out controlling possession early, out-shooting the 'Roos 11-4 in the first half. The 'Roos battled back in the second half with a 5-4 shot advantage but neither team was able to tally, sending Austin College to its second straight overtime match. After earning a free kick from near midfield, Daniel Graham sent a ball into the box and after it deflected past the keeper, Caleb Walters was there to punch it home and give the 'Roos the win in the 98th minute of action.

Andrew Celio made seven saves to earn his second straight shutout, while TLU keeper Jonathan Michael made three stops.

Austin College plays again on Friday when they travel to take on Schreiner and then will meet TLU again next Sunday.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
