Men's Hoops Extends Win Streak to Four

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team stepped out of conference play to host Arlington Baptist on Tuesday, with the 'Roos topping the Patriots 89-81 to push their winning streak to four in a row. Austin College is now 12-11 overall on the year.

Joshua Joe scored 20 points to pace Austin College in the win, hitting 8-of-13 shot attempts including 2-of-3 from long distance. He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists, while Tristan Dick posted a double-double with 12 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocked shots. Ethan Pearce came up just shy of a double-double himself, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds, while Jackson Rennie came off the bench to chip in 11 points, hitting 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.

The 'Roos controlled throughout, taking a 46-37 lead into halftime and pushing that margin to as many as 24 points in the second half. Austin College shot 54.8% from the field, compared to 34.2% for the Patriots, and scored 52 of their 89 points in the paint. The 'Roos also hit 16-of-19 free throw attempts, and owned a 47-40 advantage on the glass. Eric Conner led Arlington Baptist with 20 points off the bench, and Trae Johnson had 13 points and 11 rebounds for ABU.

Austin College plays its final home game of the season on Saturday in a big Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest against the University of Dallas at 3:00 p.m.
