'Roo Men's Hoops Falls to Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team fell into a double-digit halftime hole and was unable to recover, dropping an 87-73 decision at Southwestern University on Friday evening. The 'Roos are now 6-11 overall and 1-7 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Jackson Rennie came off the bench to score 21 points, knocking down 5-of-11 attempts from long range, and Tristan Dick had 13 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists in the loss. The 'Roos shot just 39% from the field, while Southwestern connected on better than 51% of their attempts in the game. The Pirates finished the game with seven more made field goals than Austin College, as the 'Roos hit 10-of-21 three pointers but were just 13-of-38 on two-point attempts. Southwestern, meanwhile, hit 21 of their 36 two-point attempts and 9-of-22 from beyond the arc.

Nate Williams came off the bench to score 13 points for Austin College, who trailed 35-24 at halftime. Williams hit 5-of-7 shots, including all three of his three point attempts. Ethan Pearce and Chase Antosca each chipped in nine points for the 'Roos. Southwestern was led by Brock Luechtefeld, who made 11-of-13 shots on his way to 26 points while adding seven boards. Luke Hatcher was 8-of-12 from the field, including 2-of-3 from deep, on his way to 21 points for the Pirates.
