'Roos Cruise Past Arlington Baptist

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team raced out to a double-digit halftime lead and never looked back, handling Arlington Baptist University 83-71 on Thursday evening in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 6-10 overall on the season.

Tristan Dick led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points, hitting 7-of-10 shots and all four of his free throw attempts. The senior added nine rebounds to come up just shy of a double-double, and also came away with four steals and two blocked shots. Four players reached double figures for Austin College in the victory, with Jackson Rennie coming off the bench to hit 3-of-7 triples on his way to 13 points while Joshua Joe and Nate Williams each chipped in 10 points. Joe added six assists against only one turnover from his point guard position, as 11 players scored for the 'Roos in the win.

Austin College built a 46-35 halftime lead behind 45.7% first half shooting, while limiting ABU to a 36.1% performance in the opening 20 minutes. The 'Roos shot even better after halftime, connecting on 48.1% and hounding the Patriots into 12 second half turnovers. Da'vione Stafford paced Arlington Baptist and led all scorers with 22 points while grabbing seven boards off the bench for ABU, and Gage Hulse chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for the Patriots. 

The 'Roos are off until next Friday, when they travel to Georgetown to get back into Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a game against Southwestern University.
