'Roos Fall to Ozarks

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team dropped a home contest against the University of Ozarks on Tuesday, as the 'Roos shot just 29.2% from the field while the Eagles hit better than 58% from the field. Austin College is now 1-2 overall on the year.

Tristan Dick was the lone 'Roo to reach double figures in the game, scoring 11 points on 3-of-13 shooting, and Ozarks outscore Austin College 43-24 in the second half to pull away down the stretch. Ozarks knocked down 18-of-30 shot attempts after halftime to extend their lead, which stood at 42-32 going into the break. The 'Roos, meanwhile, made only 8-of-37 second half attempts. Austin College grabbed 19 offensive rebounds but managed just 12 second chance points in the game, as the 'Roos struggled to get anything in the basket for most of the night.

The Eagles knocked down nearly 41% from long range in the game, and also outscored the 'Roos 12-7 from the free throw line. Grayson Nix led the way for Ozarks, scoring 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, and Tylan Jackson scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Josh Ukpe had 14 points for Ozarks. The 'Roos got points from 11 different players in the game, with Jason Jones Jr. scoring nine points and pulling down a team-best nine rebounds in the loss. Jackson Rennie hit 2-of-5 from long distance to end the game with eight points, and Chase Antosca came off the bench to chip in eight points in the loss. 

The 'Roos will be back home on Friday, when they host McMurry at 7:00 p.m. in Hughey Gym.
