'Roos Fall to Hot-Shooting Hendrix

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team dropped a 94-69 decision against Hendrix College on Sunday, as the Warriors knocked down 48% from beyond the arc in the game. The 'Roos are now 1-3 overall on the season.

The 'Roos grabbed an early 6-3 lead, as Roman Strickland and Tristan Dick each threw down a dunk in the opening minutes, but Hendrix went on a 25-4 run to surge ahead 28-10 with 9:21 left in the first half. Austin College started to battle back, scoring seven straight to cut it to 28-17, and a triple by Strickland made it 34-25 with 3:44 on the clock. Hendrix went back up 39-26, but the 'Roos scored the final four points of the half to head into the locker room trailing 39-30. Strickland scored 16 in the game's first 20 minutes of action.

Strickland cut the margin to six early in the second half with a three to make it 41-35, but an 18-2 run by the Warriors pushed the deficit to 59-37 and Austin College was unable to mount a comeback the rest of the way. Hendrix took its largest lead of the game at 90-60 with 3:42 left to play, and Austin College couldn't get the lead back under 20 points the rest of the game. Hendrix made 12-of-25 threes in the game, compared to just 5-of-21 shooting from deep for the 'Roos.

Strickland led all scorers with 22 points, hitting 9-of-17 shots from the field including 3-of-5 from long range, and added five rebounds. Jackson Rennie and Chase Antosca each scored 10 for the 'Roos, while Jason Jones pulled down a game-best 14 rebounds. Sean Coman and Jonathan Ryan led a balanced scoring attack for the Warriors, scoring 13 apiece, and Alex Conrad posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.
