Men's Hoops Drops Season Opener

CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College men's basketball team fell 94-76 at Hendrix College in the team's first game of the 2021-22 season on Sunday. The 'Roos fell in an 18-point hole at the half and were unable to recover after the break.

Chase Antosca came off the bench for a career-high 23 points to lead the 'Roos, as Austin College trailed 19-5 with just under 13 minutes to play and remained down by double-digits for most of the rest of the half. The 'Roos went into halftime down 51-33 to the Warriors, who shot 61% from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Austin College, meanwhile hit just 27% from the field before the break.

The 'Roos and Warriors played even basketball in the second half but Austin College was unable to chip away at the margin despite hitting 48.5% from the field after halftime, and Antosca scored 13 of his 23 points in the game's final 20 minutes. Antosca hit 10-of-14 shots from the field and added four rebounds, while Tristan Dick had a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds as the only other 'Roo to reach double figures in the scoring column.

Hendrix's Seth Stanley led all scorers with 36 points, hitting 13-of-20 shots overall and 5-of-6 from long distance.
