'Roos Drop Road Game at Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team found itself in a big hole early and was unable to recover, falling 89-66 at Trinity University on Saturday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 3-4 overall on the year.

The Tigers opened the game with a 14-0 run over the game's first four minutes, and the lead grew to 19-2 before Tristan Dick knocked down a three with 13:47 left in the first half. Trinity made it a 31-7 game three minutes later, and it was 38-9 before the 'Roos managed to get in double digits on a basket by Dick with 7:03 on the clock. Austin College was able to cut it to a 48-27 game late, but Trinity scored to head into halftime with a 23-point lead.

The margin remained above 20 the rest of the way, growing to 85-55 with four minutes left to play. Austin College got a late push in the game's closing minutes to get the final deficit to 23 following a basket by Chanston Goodman with nine seconds left, making it 89-66 at the final buzzer. 

The Tigers hounded Austin College into 25 turnovers in the game, and created 26 more shot attempts than the 'Roos. Trinity also knocked down eight threes compared to three for Austin College, and out-rebounded the 'Roos 48-to-38. Dick made 7-of-15 shots to score a game-high 18 points, adding eight rebounds and three steals in the loss. Rex King came off the bench to score nine points, and Jason Jones had seven points and seven rebounds.
