HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team dropped its regular season finale on Sunday, falling 84-75 at the University of St. Thomas. The 'Roos head into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with an overall record of 14-11 and a conference mark of 11-7.

The 'Roos trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half before cutting it to 41-30 at halftime after a three by Devin Roland just before the buzzer, and Austin College continued to rally into the second half, pulling to within three at 43-40 less than three minutes out of the break. However, St. Thomas used a 10-2 run to push it to a 53-42 margin three minutes later and the lead would eventually swell back up to 15 at 78-63 with just under seven minutes left to play.

Threes from Roman Strickland and Roland pulled the 'Roos back to within single digits at 80-71, and Michael Holland's free throws with 2:24 left cut it to a seven point game. That's as close as things would get, however, as the Celts were able to shut down the 'Roos down the stretch to seal the game at 84-75. Holland posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and also added four blocks, three assists, and two steals. Roland finished with 14 points, and Kam Hogan came off the bench to chip in 10.

Austin College heads to the conference tournament in Kerrville next weekend, where they will enter as the No. 2-seed with a first round bye. The 'Roos await the winner of Friday's Texas Lutheran versus Southwestern quarterfinal, and will take to the court in semifinal action at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
