'Roo Men Complete Season Sweep of Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. - The Austin College men's basketball team earned it second win over Hendrix College on Sunday, topping the Warriors 96-84 in a road victory behind 30 points and 13 rebounds from Michael Holland. The 'Roos are now 2-3 on the year.

It was an offensive slugfest from the start, with both teams scoring early and often and each shooting well over 50% from the field. Holland hit all four of his first half three point attempts on the way to 18 points before the break as Austin College took a 50-41 lead into the locker room. Hendrix cut it to a 56-55 game with 16 minutes to play before the 'Roos pushed the margin to 67-58 four minutes later. The Warriors would use a 10-0 run to briefly take the lead but Holland scored eight in a row as part of a 10-2 run to put Austin College ahead for good.

Holland finished the game hitting 10-of-13 shots, including 4-of-5 from deep, to get his 30 points and 13 boards, giving him his third double-double in five games this year. Justice Mercadel scored 19 points and added six rebounds, four steals, and three assists while Kam Hogan added 17 points for Austin College in the victory. The 'Roos hit 53.7% from the field, 35.7% from deep, and 87.5% from the free throw line in the game.

Hendrix put four players in double figures, shooting 51.7% from the field as a team, including 37% from three point range, but the 'Roos used a 37-28 edge in rebounds to help secure the win.
