Sullivan Goes for 40 in Win Over Schreiner

Alan Sullivan torched Schreiner for 40 points to guide the Austin College men's basketball team to a 79-57 victory over the Mountaineers on Friday night. The 'Roos improve to 13-5 overall and 3-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play win the victory.

Sullivan knocked down 14-of-21 shots overall and was white hot from three point range, hitting 8-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc. The junior forward had previously set a career high with 36 points on January 9 against Texas Lutheran before tonight's performance, which was the highest individual single season point total in the SCAC this season. Sullivan is also the first 'Roo to top 40 points since Christian Morgia scored 43 against Hardin-Simmons in 1998.

The 'Roos jumped out to a 9-2 lead early before Schreiner scored 14 unanswered to go on top 16-9, but Austin College woudl finish the half strong to take a 37-30 lead into halftime. Sullivan and Brian Baehl combined for 27 of the team's 37 first half points.

Sullivan scored 23 of his career-best 40 in the second half, knocking down 8-of-11 shots and 3-of-5 from long range after the break as the 'Roos pulled away late and cruised to the big win. Sullivan also pulled down nine rebounds in the victory. Cedric Hudson added 13 points, while Baehl and Justin Wade each chipped in 11 in the victory.
