'Roos Roll Past Paul Quinn 106-84

SHERMAN, Texas – Cedric Hudson poured in a career-best 27 points and Austin College topped the century mark for the first time in two years as the 'Roos cruised to a 106-84 victory over visiting Paul Quinn College on Monday night in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos remain undefeated this year at 7-0 after the win.

The 'Roos had 14 different players reach the scoring column and shot 51.9% from the field as a team, as well as 45.8% from three point range and 84.6% from the free throw line in order to score the program's most points since putting up 104 in the 2013-2014 season opener. Four players finished in double-digits in scoring, and the 'Roos handed out 29 assists as a team in the victory.

Stephen Igbinosa scored the first six points of the game for Austin College and 10 of the team's first 18 as Austin College jumped out to a quick double digit lead at 18-6 with 13:25 left in the opening half, and the lead grew to 26-10 on a three from Jeremy Swisher with 10:56 left in the half. Swisher drilled all five of his three point attempts on the night to finish with 19 points off the bench.

Paul Quinn fought back to trim it to a 33-26 game largely on the strength of forward Jesse Williams, who had a double-double in the first half with 17 points and 11 rebounds before the break. After a three-point-play from Davyon Collins cut it to a 44-35 lead for Austin College with 2:48 left, Hudson scored four more and Swisher knocked down another triple to send the 'Roos into halftime leading 51-38.

After the 'Roos pushed the lead to 16 early in the second half, the Tigers fought back to cut it to a 62-52 game with 13:54 to play but eight straight for Austin College, capped off by yet another Swisher three made it a 70-52 game with 12:18 left. Another Swisher three extended the lead to 86-56 with 8:31 left as Austin College used a 24-4 run to blow the game open, and the 'Roos would cruise from there.

Hudson hit 9-of-11 shots and all eight of his free throw attempts to finish with 27, and Swisher hit 7-of-9 shots overall to score his 19 in just 14 minutes of action. Igbinosa finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and five blocks, and Alan Sullivan chipped in 11 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Brian Baehl added nine points, eight rebounds, and five assists for the 'Roos.

Collins finished with 31 points to lead all scorers, hitting 15-of-20 free throws in the game. Williams finished with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor, pulling down a game-best 14 rebounds, and Blake Ervin scored 15 points and handed out five assists.
