The Austin College men's basketball team battled back from a late deficit to pull within a point of Southwestern, but the Pirates were able to hold off the 'Roos to hand Austin College a 50-48 loss on Saturday in Georgetown. The 'Roos fall to 7-12 overall and 3-6 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Southwestern led by as much as 13 in the first half before the 'Roos came storming back to pull within one at 29-28 by halftime, and after Southwestern went ahead 47-39 with just under five minutes to play, Austin College got free throws from Cedric Hudson and Brian Baehl, a three pointer from Cody Meyers, and Austin Freet's layup with 38 seconds left cut it to a 49-48 game. However, Southwestern would add a free throw and both of Austin College's shots with under five seconds left missed.
Baehl finished with 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Austin College, and Hudson came off the bench to chip in 12 points in the loss.
