'Roo Men's Hoops Suffers Last Second Loss at Centenary

The Austin College men's basketball team fell 73-72 in the team's regular season finale on Saturday when Centenary got two free throws with 0.1 seconds remaining to hand the 'Roos the loss. The 'Roos finish the regular season with an overall record of 6-19 and a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 3-12 and head into the upcoming SCAC Tournament as the No. 6-seed.

Ransom Okpala scored a late basket to put the 'Roos on top against Centenary, but the Gents managed to draw a foul with under a second left and converted both free throws. Okpala finished with 19 points and six rebounds in the loss while Alen Michael recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Jordan Hancock and Andre Bryant each scored 10 points.

The 'Roos will take on No. 3-seed Dallas on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Hughey Gym, as Austin College is set to host both the men's and women's SCAC Tournaments. The tournaments both run from Friday through Sunday, with the women's championship to be played at 12:00 p.m. on February 24 and the men's title game following at 2:30 p.m.
