'Roo Men's Hoops Edged in SCAC Tournament

The Austin College men's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Friday afternoon, falling 56-52 to Centre College in the first round of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference  Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. The 'R0os finish the season with a record of 15-11 overall.

After trailing by 16 midway through the second half, the 'Roos battled back to grab a one point lead late in the game, but Centre answered back with six straight points to make it 54-49 with under a minute left. Walter Phillips knocked down a three pointer with 31 seconds to go, and after two missed free throws by the Colonels the 'Roos had a chance to tie things up but a jumper by Kevin Graham with 11 seconds remaining would not go.

Antoine Thompson scored 18 points to lead the 'Roos and Phillips finished with 11.
