'Roo Football Announces New Coaching Staff

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College head football coach Tony Joe White and athletics director David Norman have announced the addition of five members of the 'Roo football coaching staff, completing White's staff as he heads into his first season at the helm.

Among the new hires are Bradley Oh and George Love, who will serve as the offensive and defensive coordinators, respectively. Rounding out the staff are assistant coaches Xavier Maxwell, Bobby Briones, and Bennet New.

For Oh and Maxwell, it's a return to Sherman as both coaches played for the 'Roos. Oh was an All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference offensive lineman, earning both his undergraduate and master's degrees from Austin College in 2014 and 2015. He most recently served as the offensive line coach at Central State University in Ohio, also working as the strength and conditioning coach.

He previously served as the offensive coordinator at Highland Community College in Kansas, and had previous stops at Butler Community College, McMurry University, and Northwestern State University, in addition to serving as a graduate assistant while earning his master's at Austin College.

Love is a 2007 graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where he played collegiately, with a master's degree from Northwest Missouri State University. He most recently served as the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Simpson College in Iowa from 2019 until this past season, and before that worked as the special teams coordinator at Angelo State University.

Prior to his time at Angelo State, he worked as the special teams coordinator and coached linebackers and defensive backs at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, and worked with the linebackers at the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks.

Maxwell is back in Sherman after earning his degree in 2022. Maxwell started at wide receiver for the 'Roos during his playing days, and most recently served as the wide receivers coach at Sanger High School. He also previously served as a graduate assistant for the 'Roo football team. He will be coaching the wide receivers for the 'Roos this season.

Briones comes to Austin College as the team's new defensive line coach after most recently serving as an assistant coach at Colorado State University. While at CSU, he worked with both the defensive line and the secondary. Briones is a 2021 graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois, where he was also a four-year letterwinner.

New joins the Austin College football staff as the team's linebackers coach, after most recently working with the linebackers at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He also worked as a special teams assistant coach at Navarro Junior College, and worked with the recruiting staff for the Texas State University football program. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas State in 2020, and his master's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma in 2023.
