Four 'Roo Football Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College football players Tyler Hanes, Tyler James, Kennon Magers, and Jarrett Pleasant have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically.

The 2022 Academic All-District Football Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

Hanes, a senior offensive lineman from Arlington, earned Academic All-District recognition thanks to a 3.72 grade-point-average with a major in Business Administration. Hanes also served as the starting center for the 'Roo football team for multiple seasons at Austin College.

James, a graduate student quarterback and punter from Wills Point, was picked as an Academic All-District honoree with a 3.76 grade-point-average, majoring in History. James finished this season fourth in the nation in punting average, and last season was an AFCA first team All-America selection at the position.

Magers, a senior running back from Sherman, held a 3.84 grade-point-average with a major in Business Finance to earn his Academic All-District recognition. Magers finished second on the team in rushing yards with 382, adding two touchdowns in his first season at the position.

Pleasant, a junior defensive back from Magnolia, was an Academic All-District selection as a Finance and Ecomomics major with a grade-point-average of 3.63. Pleasant ranked third on the team in tackles this season and led the team and finished sixth in the American Southwest Conference in passes defended.

 
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
