'Roo Football Shut Down at Trinity in Season Finale

'Roo Football Shut Down at Trinity in Season Finale

The Austin College football team was held to 164 yards of total offense and Trinity scored 31 second half points to hand the 'Roos a 41-0 loss in the season finale in San Antonio on Saturday. The 'Roos finish the year with an overall record of 5-5, including a 1-2 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Neither team was able to get much offense going early, thanks in large part to the wet field conditions, but Trinity started to move the ball against the 'Roo defense in the second quarter. The Tigers struck first with a 33 yard touchdown pass with 12:26 left in the opening half, and added a field goal seven minutes later to take a 10-0 lead into the break.

Trinity's Jeremy Simmons broke a pair of long touchdown runs in the third quarter to make it 24-0, going 27 yards on his first score and 60 on the second. A pick six started the scoring in the fourth quarter, and Desmond King scored on a 14 yard touchdown run with 6:32 left. The Tigers would tack on one more field goal to make it a 41-0 final.

Noah Jesko finished the game going 17-of-33 for 100 yards and two interceptions, and Madison Ross carried 14 times for 47 yards. Bryce Murphy added 42 yards on 10 rushes. Cooper Woodyard led the 'Roos with three catches for 37 yards, and Brooks Ward and Brett H. Vaughn each had eight tackles to lead the defense.

Simmons led the Tigers offensively, gaining 161 yards on 19 carries and adding 35 yards on two receptions.
