Austin College Baseball Drops Two at Concordia
AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped both halves of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at No. 25-ranked Concordia on Saturday, falling 11-6 in game one and 13-3 in game two. The 'Roos are now 9-19 overall and 6-15 in conference play.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped both halves of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at No. 25-ranked Concordia on Saturday, falling 11-6 in game one and 13-3 in game two. The 'Roos are now 9-19 overall and 6-15 in conference play.
The Tornados took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a solo homer by Kalen Clark, and Jess Lollar added another home run in the third to make it 2-0. Two more runs came across in the third, pushing the Concordia lead to 4-0. Austin College rallied back with four runs in the top of the fourth to even things up, with Desmond Squalls belting a solo homer to get things started, and RayShawn Riley came home on an error later in the inning. Maddox Prentice scored Mason Woodhouse with a sacrifice fly, and Tino Ramirez was hit by a pitch with the bases full to bring home the tying run.
The 'Roos took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh, as Woodhouse drew a walk with the bases loaded, but Concordia plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning to go on top 7-5, and the Tornados added four more in the eighth to push it to an 11-5 game. Squalls went yard for the second time in the top of the ninth to cut it to 11-6, but that's as close as the 'Roos would get. Asher Thompson took the loss for Austin College, giving up four runs on four hits in 2.2 innings of work, while Ralph Wallace III got the win in relief for Concordia. Squalls was 2-for-4 with two homers to lead the 'Roos at the dish.
In game two, Concordia jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and added five more runs in the second, pushing the Austin College deficit to 9-0. That remained the score until the sixth, when the Tornados plated another to make it 10-0 before Austin College got three runs back in the top of the seventh on a three-run homer by Ramirez. However, Concordia added three runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend the lead to 13-3, ending the game after eight innings via the run-rule.
Blake Goodridge absorbed the loss for Austin College, giving up nine runs, eight earned, on eight hits in 1.1 innings of work, while Rowdy Hoadley got the win for Concordia after pitching 5.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Riley went 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead Austin College offensively.
