'Roos Drop Series Opener at Texas Lutheran
SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team held a 3-1 lead through six and a half innings on Friday evening against Texas Lutheran, but the Bulldogs rallied past the 'Roos late in a 4-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest. The 'Roos are now 8-15 overall and 5-11 in conference play.

The 'Roos are now 8-15 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
A first inning error brought home Isaac Villa for the first run of the game and Jack Wilhelm singled to plate Tino Ramirez, making it 2-0 after the top of the first, but Texas Lutheran got a run back in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 2-1 game. The 'Roos quickly pushed the margin back to two runs in the top of the second when Desmond Squalls drew a bases loaded walk, bringing home Ramirez to make it 3-1.
That remained the score until the bottom of the seventh, when Chase Bourgeois homered to cut it to 3-2, and Kash Durkin brought home the tying run later in the inning on a sacrifice fly. The Bulldogs took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Cooper Jen walked with the bases full, and Austin College was unable to square things up and force an extra frame in the team's final set of at-bats.
Jonas CeBallos took the loss in relief, surrendering one unearned run on one hit with two walks in 1.2 innings of action, while Trystan Mallory logged 6.0 innings with one run on five hits and four strikeouts. Villa went 3-for-4 with two runs and a pair of stolen bases, and Wilhelm was 2-for-5. Isaiah Ramirez got the in for TLU in relief, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings with three hits, four strikeouts, and three walks.
