'Roo Baseball Drops Series Opener at Centenary
SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College baseball team fell 18-6 in its series opener against Centenary College, with the 'Roos playing as the home team in Shreveport due to the game being moved due to winter weather across Texoma this week. Austin College is now 0-7 overall and 0-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Centenary took advantage of some early defensive miscues from Austin College, plating four unearned runs in the top of the first to put the 'Roos in a 4-0 hole early, and after Kaden Stegent singled home a run in the bottom of the second, the Gents added a run in the third and another in the fourth to go on top 6-1. RayShawn Riley and Ashton Cason each notched an RBI single in the fourth to cut it to 6-3, but the Gents plated another run in the top of the fifth and one more in the sixth, before adding two more in the seventh to extend the lead to 10-3.
Austin College got three runs back in the bottom of the seventh to cut it to 10-6, with Desmond Squalls drawing a bases loaded walk to get things started, while Jayden Ayala-Hinojosa and Scott Hosmer each drove in a run in the inning. However, Centenary used a big eighth inning to put the game away, pushing eight runs across to make it an 18-6 final. Jonas CeBallos took the loss for Austin College, surrendering seven runs - only two earned - on six hits in 5.0 innings of work, while Tyler Herrera got the win for the Gents, giving up three runs, one earned, on six hits in 6.0 innings pitched. Riley paced Austin College at the dish, going 3-for-4, while Brody Hebert went 4-for-4 with a homer and six RBI to lead Centenary.
