Three From 'Roo Baseball Earn Academic All-District

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College baseball players Zack Czarnecky, Brandon Hill, and Asher Thompson have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both athletically and academically during the 2023-24 season.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Czarnecky, a senior from Prosper, earned Academic All-District accolades after graduating with a grade-point-average of 3.61 with a major in business finance. Czarnecky made 15 appearances on the mound for the 'Roos, including making two starts, in his final season in Sherman.

Hill, a senior from Carrollton, was named Academic All-District honors on the strength of a 3.8 grade-point-average while earning his degree in computer science. Hill was also named honorable mention All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as the team's starting centerfielder.

Thompson, a junior from Lake Highlands, earned Academic All-District recognition after wrapping up the year with a grade-point-average of 3.87 while majoring in business finance. This season he appeared in 33 games, starting throughout the year at third base and second base.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced July 2.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
