SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team stepped out of conference and up a division to take on NCAA Division II foe Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday, as the Savage Storm pulled away late in both games to hand the 'Roos losses of 14-7 and 18-6.

After a scoreless first inning to game one, Southeastern pushed three runs across in the top of the second and took a commanding 9-0 lead through three innings after plating six more in the third. Austin College got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, with Asher Thompson singling home RayShawn Riley. Thompson drove in another run to kick off a six-run sixth inning for Austin College to help the 'Roos cut it to a 9-7 game. Tripp Thoms, Greg Smith, and Ashton Cason all knocked in runs, and Tino Ramirez ripped a double to left to plate a pair of runs to cap off the inning.

However, Southeastern responded with another big inning of its own in the top of the seventh, getting five runs in the frame to push the margin to 14-7 and Austin College was unable to get the bats going in the team's final plate appearances of the game. Blake Skipworth took the loss for Austin College, surrendering six runs - five earned - on six hits in 2.0 innings of work. Thompson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Ryan Padfiled was 2-for-3 for Austin College.

The Savage Storm once again jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in game two, plating three in the top of the first to go up on the 'Roos. Scott Hosmer's solo homer in the second cut it to a 3-1 game, but Southeastern got three more runs in the third to push the deficit to 6-1. RayShawn Riley got all three runs back with one swing in the bottom half of that inning, launching a three-run opposite field home run to trim it to 6-4.

Following a Southeastern run in the fifth, Austin College scored two more in the bottom of the inning to cut it to a 7-6 game. Riley and Hosmer each knocked in a run in the frame. However, the Savage Storm erupted for six runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to pull away for an 18-6 victory over Austin College. Joe Potter absorbed the loss for the 'Roos, giving up six runs on three hits with five strikeouts and five walks in 2.0 innings of action. Hosmer was 2-for-4 and Riley was 1-for-4 with four RBI to pace the 'Roos at the dish. Jake Miller, Antonio Crews, and Reid Rice each hit a home run for Southeastern in the game.
