Crusaders Take Two From Austin College Baseball
IRVIING, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped a pair of heartbreakers on Saturday, as the University of Dallas rallied past the 'Roos in both halves of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Crusaders topped Austin College by scores of 5-3 and 4-3 on the day.

IRVIING, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped a pair of heartbreakers on Saturday, as the University of Dallas rallied past the 'Roos in both halves of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Crusaders topped Austin College by scores of 5-3 and 4-3 on the day.
Austin College struck first in game one, as Tino Ramirez drove in a run in the third to make it a 1-0 game. Ryan Padfield put two more runs on the board with a homer in the fourth, bringing home Scott Hosmer to make it 3-0. The Crusaders got their first run of the day in the bottom half of the inning, and Dallas would cut it to 3-2 in the fifth. After Paxton Huff tied the game with an RBI in the sixth, David Saldana provided what would prove to be the game-winning hit for the Crusaders, knocking home two runs in the seventh to make it 5-3, and that's how things would end.
RayShawn Riley and Hosmer each went 2-for-4 to lead the 'Roos at the dish, and Padfield was 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. Cayden Hohman as 3-for-4 to pace the Crusaders, and Saldana was 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In game two, it was Dallas that got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the third, but Austin College got two runs in the fourth as Greg Smith and Kaden Stegent each collected an RBI in the frame to put the 'Roos on top 2-1. Riley doubled home a run in the fifth to give Austin College a 3-1 lead, but it was short-lived, with the Crusaders plating three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Andrew Gaspar tied things up with a two-run single, and Saldana knocked in the go-ahead run later in the inning. Austin College was unable to mount a comeback over the final four innings of the game.
Ramirez, Stegent, and Riley each had a pair of hits to pace Austin College at the dish, while Hohman led Dallas with a 3-for-4 performance that included a home run. Gaspar went 3-for-4 with two RBi. Austin College and the Crusaders will wrap up their three game series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
