SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team struck first against No. 14-ranked Trinity, but the Tigers would score five unanswered runs to hand the 'Roos a 5-1 defeat on Friday night at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 8-26 overall and 3-16 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The game was scoreless through three and a half innings until Austin College got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Sergio De Paoli opened the inning with a double, and would eventually come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Logan Ballard to make it a 1-0 game. However, the lead would be short-lived as Trinity plated a pair in the top of the fifth to grab a 2-1 lead, and they'd hold on from there. MJ Metz drove in the first run for the Tigers, and Trinity would go on top via a throwing error that allowed Jack Vonderhaar to score from second.

Trinity plated another pair of runs in the sixth to make it 4-1, and they'd tack on one more in the eighth to make it a 5-1 final. Justin Lambright took the loss for Austin College, giving up two runs on three hits in 4.2 innings of work with four strikeouts and four walks. Joseph Chavana went the distance for Trinity, striking out 11 batters and giving up a run on eight hits. Scott Hosmer paced the 'Roos at the plate, going 2-for-4.
