'Roo Baseball Picks Up Road Win at LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Austin College baseball team got its fifth straight win to improve to 5-1 overall on the year, topping LeTourneau 12-7 in a road victory Tuesday night.

LeTourneau grabbed a 1-0 lead after the first inning, and after Sergio De Paoli tripled home a run and then scored on a wild pitch to put the 'Roos ahead 2-1, the Jackets answered back with a run in the bottom of the second to square things up. An error brought home a run for the 'Roos in the third, and in the fifth inning Austin College exploded for seven runs to take a commanding 10-2 lead. Cody Goggins got the scoring started in the inning with an RBI single, and Jake Webster and De Paoli each knocked in a run. Bennett Reagan drew a bases loaded walk to bring home another run in the inning, and another error brought home two more runs.

Austin College plated two more runs in the sixth on base hits by De Paoli and Reagan to make it 12-2, and after LeTourneau scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth before being shut out in the ninth to make it a 12-7 final.

Austin Coe pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win in relief, and De Paoli led the way at the plate with a 3-for-5 performance with three RBI. Goggins, Zack Mahoney, and Brandon Evans each had a pair of hits in the victory.
