'Roos Rally Past Schreiner for 5-2 Victory

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Austin College baseball team fell behind 2-0 after four innings, but a 3-run fifth put the 'Roos on top for good in a 5-2 road victory. The 'Roos are now 9-10 overall and 3-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Schreiner scored once in the third and again in the fourth, with the first run coming via a bases-loaded walk while the second run came home on a bases-loaded hit batter. Bennett Reagan singled home a run to start the scoring for Austin College in the fifth, and Austin Dudley plated two more to put the 'Roos ahead. Dudley would drive in another run in the seventh, and Oscar Gonzalez would score in the eighth as Brett Taff reached on an error to make it 5-2.

Ryan Scruggs came on in relief to work 5.1 scoreless innings to earn his first career victory, as he and Christian Thomas combined to limit the Mountaineers to just three hits in the game. Dudley finished 2-for-5 with three RBI, and Reagan also went 2-for-5 and scored twice.

Austin College will be looking to carry the momentum forward as the 'Roos and Mountaineers square off for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
