SHERMAN, Texas – Centenary completed its weekend sweep of the Austin College baseball team on Saturday, as the 'Roos fell 12-0 in game one and 9-6 in game two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. Austin College is now 4-15 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Centenary jumped out to an early lead in game one when Michael Schimpf delivered a three run homer in the top of the first, and two more runs came home in the second to make it a 5-0 game. The Gents would plate three more in the third, pushing the margin to 8-0. A Cameron Guin homer in the fifth made it 10-0, and two more runs would come across in the seventh to make it a 12-0 final via the 10-run rule.

Chase Almaguer took the loss for Austin College, surrendering 10 runs – five earned – on 12 hits in 5.0 innings pitched, while five different players collected one hit apiece for the 'Roos.

In game two, the Gents once again used a three run homer in the first inning to take an early lead, but Austin College answered back with three runs in the bottom of the second to square things up. James Wyche got things going with a two run single, and Chance Hatchel brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.

Centenary plated two in the third, and Austin College answered with a run in the fourth to make it a 5-4 game before two more runs came across in the fifth for the Gents to make it 7-4. Austin College would cut it to a 7-6 game in the sixth, with Hatchel knocking in another run while an error by the Gents allowed Wyche to score. However, Centenary would get one more run in the eighth and another in the ninth to push it to a 9-6 final and Austin College was unable to respond.

Christian Thomas absorbed the loss, giving up seven runs – only two earned – on seven hits in 4.2 innings of work. Scott Gelbart went 3-for-4 at the dish to lead Austin College offensively.
