'Roo Baseball Falls to LeTourneau

SHERMAN, Texas – LeTourneau scored all 10 of its runs in a single inning, and Austin College was unable to mount a comeback as the 'Roo baseball team fell 10-3 to the Yellow Jackets on Friday night at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 3-10 overall on the year.

Austin College jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning, with Brett Taff knocking home a run, followed by an RBI double from Oscar Gonzalez. Gus Daniel added an RBI to cap off the inning for Austin College, and the score remained 3-0 until the top of the third, when LeTourneau exploded for 10 runs.

The Jackets got RBI doubles from Carson Dickey and Kyle Jacobs, with Jacobs clearing the bases by doubling down the left field line. Jacobs would later come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Gonzalo Sosa for the 10th run of the frame, which would also be the last run scored by either team.

Josh Lewis took his first loss of the season, bringing his record to 3-1 on the year, after surrendering 10 runs – nine earned – on 12 hits in 6.0 innings of work. Austin Dudley went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and four other players had a hit apiece for the 'Roos. Jordan Carns went the distance for LeTourneau to get the win for the Jackets, while Jacobs went 3-for-6 with three RBI and Haden Simmons went 3-for-4.

Austin College will be looking to bounce back tomorrow when they take on LeTourneau for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
