The Austin College baseball team dropped both halves of its doubleheader at No. 7 Trinity University on Friday, falling 12-0 in game one and 10-4 in game two. The 'Roos are now 6-3 on the year.
In game one, Trinity jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added one run in both the fourth and sixth innings to make it 4-0 late, but the Tigers exploded for eight runs in the eighth inning to go on top 12-0. The 'Roos were unable to get much offense going in the game, collecting seven hits, all singles.
Thomas Oberg went 2-for-3 to lead the 'Roos offensively, while Josh Lewis took the loss, surrendering four runs - two earned - on eight hits in 6.0 innings of work.
In game two, the Tigers scored a run in the first and another in the second to go ahead 2-0, and the lead grew to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Austin College plated a run in the sixth to make it 3-1 on a solo homer from Gus Daniel, but errors opened the door for six unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it 9-1.
After the Tigers added a run in the seventh, Austin College made one last attempt at a comeback, plating three runs in the ninth with RBIs from RJ Melton, Oscar Gonzalez, and Jeremy Halford but that's as close as the 'Roos would get in the 10-4 loss.
Mychael Parish took the loss, giving up eight runs - only three earned - on 13 hits in 5.2 innings of work. Daniel and Austin Dudley each went 2-for-4 in the loss.
