SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team had five errors leading to four unearned runs, and the 'Roos were unable to overcome the miscues in a 5-4 loss to Park University on Sunday afternoon at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 3-1 on the year with the loss.

The Pirates got on the board first with a pair of runs in the second inning, with the first run coming across on a wild pitch while the second run scored as the result of a throwing error to make it a 2-0 game. That remained the score until the bottom of the third, when Oscar Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch, and James Arguello and Gus Daniel each knocked in a run to put Austin College ahead 3-2.

Two errors in the seventh opened the door for three runs by the Pirates, putting Park ahead 5-3, and Scott Gelbart singled home a run in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 5-4 game. However, Austin College was unable to even things up, as the 'Roos managed just one base runner in the final two innings.

Braley Williams takes the loss in relief, surrendering three unearned runs on just one hit in 1.2 innings of work. Chase Almaguer tossed 5.0 innings, giving up two runs – one earned – on five hits to get a no-decision. Daniel went 3-for-4 to pace the 'Roos, who collected 14 hits as a team. Gelbart, Arguello, Austin Dudley, and Tyler Tarbox each had two hits in the loss.

JD Williams got the win for Park, allowing one run on four hits in 2.0 innings of relief work, while Aaron Garcia went 2-for-4 to lead the Pirates offensively.
