SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team earned a dramatic 2-1 walk-off win in game one against the University of Dallas, but a five run second inning in put UD on top for good in a 9-4 game two loss. The 'Roos are now 8-17 overall and 6-8 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

In the first game, neither team was able to get any offense going early on.  Brett Moody carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but the Crusaders still managed to get on the board first with a solo homer from Anthony Armstrong in the top of the seventh. Dylan Day singled home Todd Takabuki in the bottom of the eighth to square things up, and with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth, Josh Coughennower delivered a single to right field to plate Jeremy Halford for the game winning run.

Moody threw his third complete game of the season to earn the win, surrendering one run on just four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Takabuki and Thomas Oberg each went 2-for-4 to lead the way at the dish for Austin College. Luciano Villanueva took the loss in relief for Dallas, giving up one run on one hit with two walks in 0.1 innings of work.

After a scoreless first inning in game two, the Crusaders took advantage of a pair of fielding miscues on sacrifice bunts, opening the door for a five run inning to go on top 5-0. Only one of the five runs wound up being earned in the inning. Austin College got a run back in the third when Austin Dudley came home on a balk, but two more runs came across in the fourth to push the UD lead to 7-1. The Crusaders would add one run in the fifth and another in the sixth to extend the margin to 9-1.

Takabuki launched a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to cut it to a 9-2 game, and Austin College was able to score two more in the eighth when Gus Daniel scored on an errant pickoff attempt at third, and Will Schommer drove in a run to make it a 9-4 game. However, that's as close as Austin College would get.
