SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College baseball team fell in both halves of its non-conference doubleheader against visiting Dallas Christian College on Tuesday, falling 3-1 in game two before a rally by DCC led to a 6-5 loss in game two. The 'Roos fall to 3-13 overall with the two defeats.

In the first game, Dallas Christian got on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the top of the third, with the first run coming home when Nick Tovar reached on a throwing error, and a Kale McQuillen RBI single plated the second run of the inning. The lead grew to 3-0 following another errant throw in the sixth.

Austin College was finally able to get on the board in the bottom of the seventh when Josh Coughennower singled to left, scoring Gus Daniel, but that would be the only tally for the 'Roos in the loss. Coughennower finished the game going 3-for-3 to lead the 'Roos, while Trevor DeBord took the loss after surrendering two runs – one earned – in 1.0 innings of work in relief.

In game two, the Crusaders jumped on top early with an RBI single from Jordan Nowels in the top of the first to make it 1-0, but Austin College would square things up in the second when Dylan Day singled home Coughennower. Todd Takabuki ripped a two run single down the right field line and DeBord followed that up with a two run single to left as Austin College plated four runs in the third, putting the 'Roos on top 5-1 after three.

Dallas would get two runs back in the fourth, and another run came home in the fifth to make it a 5-4 game. Nowels drew a bases loaded walk to knot things up in the sixth, and Dallas Christian pulled off a suicide squeeze in the top of the seventh to go ahead 6-5. Austin College would put the tying run on second after Takabuki singled and moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt by Coughennower, but the 'Roos were unable to get the run home.

James Arguello, Takabuki, and Day each had two hits for the 'Roos, while Josh Lewis absorbed the loss after surrendering one run on two hits in 1.1 innings of work.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
