'Roo Baseball's Comeback Bid Falls Short

'Roo Baseball's Comeback Bid Falls Short

The Austin College baseball team scored eight runs over the final two innings but was unable to make up enough ground in a 13-10 loss to the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 8-21 overall and 6-8 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the loss.

The 'Roos fell behind 5-0 early and after getting two runs in the fourth, the Crusaders added four in the bottom half of the inning to push it to a 9-2 game. Two more runs came home for UD in the seventh to make it an 11-2 game before the 'Roos plated three in the eighth. UD added another two runs in the eighth to make it 13-5, and the 'Roos managed to push five runs across in the ninth but that's as close as things would get.

Travis Gibson went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a triple and CJ Adame went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs to lead the 'Roos offensively. Mason Leech and Will Schommer each added an RBI in the loss. Todd Takabuki took the loss, surrendering five runs on four hits in 2.0 innings of work.
