Dallas Takes Rubber Match against 'Roo Baseball
The Austin College baseball team led the University of Dallas midway through the third and final game of the weekend opening Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series between the two teams, but the Crusaders scored nine runs between the fifth and eighth innings to hand the ‘Roos a 9-2 loss on Sunday afternoon at Baker Field.

The Austin College baseball team led the University of Dallas midway through the third and final game of the weekend opening Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series between the two teams, but the Crusaders scored nine runs between the fifth and eighth innings to hand the 'Roos a 9-2 loss on Sunday afternoon at Baker Field. The 'Roos are now 2-8 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The 'Roos got on the board quickly when Tyler Appelquist singled into right field to bring home Austin Vaughan in the bottom of the first, and the lead grew to 2-0 in the second when Vaughan scored again, this time on a double by Dylan Day.
The score would remain 2-0 until the Crusaders brought home a run in the fifth to cut the margin in half, but two runs in the sixth followed by three in both the seventh and eighth innings put the game out of reach for the 'Roos. With the win, UD takes the weekend series two games to one.
Appelquist and Day each had two hits and an RBI, Travis Gibson collected his second triple in as many days, and Colt Herron extended his hitting streak to six games in the loss for the 'Roos. Blaine Tew absorbed the loss on the mound, surrendering three runs, two earned, on five hits in 5.2 innings of work.
