Thiele Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Sammi Thiele.

Thiele, a junior from Keller, had an outstanding meet for Austin College as the 'Roos traveled to Arkansas last weekend to compete against the University of the Ozarks. Thiele opened the day as part of a 'Roo team that won the 200 medley relay, and then added three individual wins later in the meet. Thiele, who owns several Austin College program records and is a multiple time All-SCAC performer in the pool, took first place in the 200 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, and 50 freestyle against Ozarks. She is also a standout for the 'Roo women's water polo team, and last year was named Austin College's Gene Day Award winner as the most outstanding female student-athlete.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
