Escobar Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's soccer player Cesar Escobar.

Escobar, a senior forward from El Progresso, Honduras, got his senior season off to a strong start by scoring a goal in each of the team's first three matches. Escobar tallied on a penalty kick in the season opener against East Texas Baptist, and then added a goal in Austin College's first win of the year, a 2-0 decision at LeTourneau. He capped off his scoring streak with a goal in a home game against Howard Payne. For his career, Escobar has now scored seven goals with four assists for a total of 18 points in 39 matches played.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
