James Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo football player Tyler James.

James, a senior from Wills Point, was honored earlier this week by the National Football Foundation Gridiron Club of Dallas as one of its six collegiate scholar-athletes for 2022. The honorees are selected based on their athletic accomplishments, academic success, and leadership in the community. The award is one more accolade for James to cap off his 2021-22 academic year, after having been named a first team All-American punter by the American Football Coaches Association. James also serves as Austin College's starting quarterback, throwing for more than 1,200 yards last year. In his career, James has passed for 2,189 yards with 16 touchdowns.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
