SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Sammi Thiele

Thiele, a sophomore from Keller, had an outstanding showing at the Austin College Invitational on Saturday. Thiele, who also plays for the 'Roo women's water polo team and helped Austin College bring home the CWPA Division III conference title in that sport in 2021, had several first place finishes in the team's home meet that also featured Ozarks and Centenary. Thiele was part of the 200 medley relay team that placed first, and added individual victories in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, and also placed first in the 100 freestyle. Thiele was dominant in the two breaststroke events, winning the 100 by eight seconds and 200 by an incredible 18 seconds.
