West Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's basketball player Kacie West.

West, a fifth-year senior from Sulphur, Okla., was named this week's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference female Character & Community Award recipient for her work this fall in organizing a canned food drive to benefit those less fortunate in Grayson County over the holidays. West, a four time All-SCAC performer who has scored more than 1,000 points in her career with the 'Roos, will be setting up the canned food drive on December 17 as the Austin College men's and women's basketball teams open up conference play against Trinity University with a doubleheader beginning at 6:00 p.m. Those in attendance are encouraged to bring canned food items for donation.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
