SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Samantha Thiele.

Thiele, a freshman from Keller, had a record-setting weekend at the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet, breaking multiple Austin College program records and earning All-SCAC accolades. Thiele, who is also a member of the 'Roo women's water polo team, took second place in the 200 individual medley to earn All-Conference. She swam the event in a program record time of 2:11.20, and set another Austin College record on the same day with a time of 1:08.08 in the 100 breaststroke. That time earned her fourth place at the championships. Earlier this year, Thiele earned SCAC Swimmer of the Week honors, as well.
