Biffar Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo cross country and distance track runner Johnny Biffar.

Biffar, a senior from Fate, became the third 'Roo men's cross country runner to earn All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors at the conference championship meet on February 6 when he came in ninth overall. That ninth place finish ties him with Chris Burke, who finished ninth in 2014, with the best SCAC finish in program history. Biffar, who also serves as a member of the Austin College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, finished the 8K race with a time of 27:27.40 to earn his All-Conference accolades. Teammate Andrew Thomas came in 14th in the race, making it four men's runners all-time to earn All-SCAC for the 'Roos, including last year's honoree RJ Navarro.

Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
