Lozano Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighing our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's cross country runner Danielle Lozano.

Lozano, a junior from San Antonio, has had three top 10 finishes in the team's first four meets of the season, including a sixth place finish last week at the East Texas Baptist Tigers Invitational. Lozano set a new personal best in the 6k during the meet, coming in with a time of 26:06.10. That strong finish came on the heels of taking third place at the University of Dallas Invitational the week prior, where Lozano finished with a time of 22:16.4 in the 5k race. Lozano, who originally came to Austin College as a member of the women's soccer program, has transitioned to being one of the strongest runners on both the cross country and distance track teams over the last two seasons. Last spring, she finished ninth in the 10,000-meter face at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships.

Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
