Khalaf Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College Athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighing our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's soccer player Joseph Khalaf.

Khalaf, a senior goalkeeper from Sherman, capped an outstanding playing career by being named first team All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for the third consecutive year. Khalaf was also the runner-up in voting for the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award. Over the course of his career, Khalaf logged nearly 6,000 minutes in goal for the 'Roos, making 332 saves in 78 matches. He also had 15 shutouts, and was part of four shared shutouts.

Along with his on-field accolades, Khalaf was also men's soccer recipient of the SCAC Elite 19 Award, given to one student-athlete in the conference who has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA, at least 60 credit hours, and earns All-SCAC honors for that particular season. Khalaf excels in the classroom, boasting a 3.81 grade-point-average.

"Joseph is a model student-athlete," said head men's soccer coach Mark Hudson. "He's motivated to excel on the field, and maybe even moreso in the classroom. His leadership over the past four years has been vital to our success."

Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes.
