Kidus Getenet - Basketball
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo men's basketball player Kidus Getenet.
Getenet, a senior from Allen, reached a huge career milestone last weekend as the 'Roos traveled to Colorado College and St. Thomas, surpassing 1,000 points during his four years with the 'Roos in the team's game against the Tigers. Getenet, who entered that contest needing five points to reach the 1,000 point plateau, scored 13 points to reach that mark, and followed it up with 15 points in the road game against the Celts. So far this season, Getenet has hit double-digits in the scoring column in nine of 11 games, and is on pace for the highest scoring season of his career. Getenet has also been one of the team's top rebounders this season, averaging better than five boards per game.
Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
