Alexus Johnson - Softball
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo softball player Alexus Johnson.
Johnson, a senior pitcher from Humble, led the 'Roos to a big 9-7 road victory over Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Centenary College last weekend. Johnson picked up her second victory of the season on the circle in the game, tossing 5.1 innings with two earned runs allowed to the Ladies, and she helped herself at the plate with her best hitting performance of the season. Johnson went 2-for-4 in the game, driving in three runs and scoring one more while also coming away with a stolen base. For the year, she's hitting .364 while also leading the Austin College pitching staff in innings pitched and also has the team lead with 26 strikeouts. Last season, Johnson set the single-season program record with 10 pitching victories.
Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
