Lola Barcus-Schafer - Swimming
SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo women's swimmer Lola Barcus-Schafer.
Barcus-Schafer, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week after an outstanding meet against conference foe St. Thomas on Saturday in Hannah Natatorium. Barcus-Schafer, competing in the final home meet of her career, had three individual victories, taking first place in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 36.25 and claiming the 100-yard breaststroke title in 1:18.76. She also won the 100-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 1:08.27, and was part of the team's victory in the 400 medley relay to help Austin College earn a dominant 147-57 win over the Celts.
Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
