Men's Tennis Defeats Austin College, 7-2

SHERMAN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's Tennis defeated Austin College, 7-2, at the Russell Tennis Center on Saturday for their first win of the season and first win under first-year head coach David Mueller. The win marks the Bulldogs first SCAC victory since a 7-2 win over Centenary College on Feb 2, 2020.

Texas Lutheran won two out of three doubles points with victories at Nos. 2 and 3 and followed with singles wins by Brody Smith (New Braunfels/Canyon), Eric Moninger (New Braunfels/New Braunfels), Logan Randall (Idalou/Idalou), Austin Hudson (San Marcos/San Marcos), and Xavier Cristan (Corpus Christi/Flour Bluff).

The doubles duos of Brody Smith/Logan Randall (8-7) and Eric Moninger/Aaron Salinas (Kerrville/Tivy) (8-1) would win their doubles matches - marking the first doubles win for Moninger and Salinas and second of the season for Smith and Randall.

Freshman Xavier Cristan would secure his third singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0, victory while Brody Smith earned his second singles victory as a Bulldog with a 6-2, 6-4 win. Sophomore Austin Hudson and freshmen Eric Moninger and Logan Randall would each secure their first official singles wins as Bulldogs on Saturday.

Texas Lutheran (1-7, 1-3 SCAC) will welcome Grove City College to Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center on Tuesday, March 7, at 2 PM for non-conference action.
